WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
Price:
$249
The increase in obesity in the United States is dramatic and expected to continue. The United States ranks as the fattest nation in the world with the highest prevalence of obesity among adults aged 40 and over. Much of the blame has been placed on sedentary lifestyles and large meal portions loaded with fat, sugar and salt. But many of us are not aware of the strong connection between our hormones and our weight. As we age hormone levels adjust; some go up and some drop. Hormonal imbalances can lead to weight gain, obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and diabetes.
Estrogen and testosterone in the proper balance contribute to a healthy distribution of fat in the body, but when estrogen levels rise unhealthy weight gains follow in both men and women. Lower levels of testosterone in men can lead to weight gain and fat distribution similar to that experienced by women. Cortisol, the Stress Hormone, in excess leads to abdominal weight gain, and sleep disturbances which contribute to increased appetite and overeating. Low levels of vitamin D or high levels of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) are also directly linked to excess weight and obesity. Elevations of fasting Insulin and Hemoglobin A1C indicate insulin resistance and/or early detection of Type 2 Diabetes. Estradiol (E2) Progesterone (Pg) Testosterone (T) DHEA-S (DS) Diurnal Cortisol (Cx4) Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) Vitamin D (D2, D3) Insulin (In) Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c)
